About
A practice built around clarity
Private orthopaedic care in Chelmsford, centred on careful assessment and plans patients can follow with confidence.
The practice
How we work with you
AW Medical Ltd provides consultant-led orthopaedic care with Dr Abdul Waheed, Orthopaedic Consultant. The practice supports people dealing with joint pain, sports injury and decisions about treatment — whether that means continuing non-operative care, arranging further imaging, or reviewing a plan already underway.
Appointments are structured to give enough time for a proper history and examination. Existing scans and reports are reviewed in context, so the conversation is grounded in what the imaging actually shows rather than hurried assumptions. You leave with a written summary that sets out what is known, what remains uncertain, and what happens next.
Clinical focus includes the knee, hip and shoulder: injury assessment, arthritis management, and second opinions on orthopaedic treatment plans. Where physiotherapy, further investigation or surgical pathways may be appropriate, those options are explained plainly so you can decide with your GP and wider care team.
Consultations are available in person in Chelmsford, and online where a first assessment is suitable — including when imaging is already available for review. Initial online consultations are £350.
Everything shared with the practice is held in confidence. Nothing is committed until you have spoken with us and agreed that the appointment is the right next step for your situation.
What to expect
A clear process from first contact
Enquiries begin with a short exchange to confirm that an orthopaedic consultation is the right fit. At the appointment itself, the emphasis is on understanding your symptoms, examining the relevant joints, and reviewing any imaging you already hold. If further tests are needed, they are arranged promptly and explained before you leave.
Follow-up is planned around your situation rather than a fixed template. Some people need a single clarifying visit; others benefit from a staged review as rehabilitation progresses or as treatment decisions come into clearer focus. In every case, correspondence is written so that you — and your GP — can see the reasoning as well as the recommendation.
Philosophy of care
Uncertainty explained is easier to carry than uncertainty hidden
Patients rarely arrive asking for reassurance alone; they arrive asking to understand their options. Every consultation ends with three things said aloud: what is known, what is still uncertain, and precisely what happens next — and the same three things in writing.
